This is story all about how my life got flipped-turned upside down… Only kidding.
My name is Afton and this is the story of the girl behind this blog…
I am a city girl, turned small-town girl. (read: I live in a small town) From 2.75 million people to just shy of 2,000 there is a bit of culture shock. Between corn fields and cattle farms (is that even what they are called??) I am living proof you can take the girl out of the city, but you can’t take the city out of the girl. No matter how many times I am told “it’s the smell of money,” it is and it will always be the smell of cow poo. I like makeup, manicures and all things girly. That being said, I do love the small-town lifestyle and its simplicity. And you will never meet
nosier nicer people in the world.
So how did I end up in this little town? Well, at 19 I met my future husband on the dance floor at a wedding reception, and the rest is history. Cliché, but true. That cool Nebraska guy (cue Lady Gaga) happens to be from this little town. (And for a little back-history, both my parents also happen to be from this little town, so its safe to say I knew exactly what I was getting into before we put down our roots.) Back to the cliché story of how we met and ended up here– after the wedding dance I went back to KC, and he back to Lincoln, where he had attended college and now had his first big boy job. Thirteen months of long distance and we decided it was time to take this relationship to one town. I packed up and headed to Lincoln. Shortly after, Cole landed a job and we decided to make the move to this little Nebraska town we now call “home.” From there it gets pretty boring– First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes baby in the baby carriage is pretty much exactly how things played out.
A little more about that baby in the carriage though. The Hubs and I were blessed with the orneriest, sweetest, most high-energy, loving little boy. Ryan is our world, and he is ALL boy. I am one blessed Momma and wifey.
I have wanted to start blogging for the longest time, so I finally made the leap and now here I am with a blog. I have no clue what to do or where to go from here, and I’m not very techy so things could get interesting. I love Jesus, Target, fitness and Starbucks just like the next girl. My life is boring yet crazy, and perfectly imperfect. I’m just a normal girl, living life, and keeping it real, and I want to share it all with you at All Things Afton.
